Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD… (Micah 4:2)
Our journey with the Lord begins in the dust in the outside world. He found us in the wild. This journey takes us to the foot of the mountain – the mountain of the Lord. There is a big settlement around the mountain. There are numerous tents and people settled under the tents. There is a huge herd at the foot of the mountain.
The one who found us in the dust in the wild is the Spirit of God and our journey is with Him. He struggles to navigate us through the herd settled at the foot of the mountain and guide us to climb the mountain. Often, we get lost in the herd at the bottom of the mountain and lose focus of our journey and take our eyes off the Holy Spirit our Guide and get mingled with the crowd. We get comfortable with the herd at the foot of the mountain and settle in one of the tents.
But if we realize that the destination of our journey is not the foot of the mountain but the top of the mountain and the only one who can take us there is the Spirit of God. If we keep our focus on Him, He will take us through the crowd beyond the foothill of the mountain and help us to climb the mountain.
Often when we climb the mountain, we might not have the herd with us, we might have to climb it alone. But we are not alone, His Spirit is with us every step, guiding us, instructing us, enabling us, and helping us when we slip. It’s when we are climbing the mountain with Him that we are with Him alone and away from the crowd and able to hear Him clearly.
His goal is to take us to the top of the mountain where we can see the Father Face to Face. Do not settle at the foot of the mountain with the herd but keep climbing with Him until you see Him Face to Face and enter His Rest into the inner most sanctuary at the top of the mountain of God.
